Greenpoint. The Transition is a series of cultural and social activities realized in New York, USA by the Culture Shock Foundation from May to December, 2014 consisting of educational workshops, concert series, movie screenings, and local recreational activities, all targeted at Poles, those with Polish roots, and everyone interested in Polish culture and history.

Concerts and movie screenings do not require a reservation. Just come and join us! Translations from Polish into English and vice versa will be available. 

 Participation is free of charge!

Photo Collages – photographic workshops for youths

Description: Summer adventure with photography! Young participants will take on the role of photojournalists and will create a visual history of Greenpoint.
Age: 9-12 years old
Where: Brooklyn Public Library in Greenpoint, 107 Norman Ave, NY.

Having a photo-walk and creating a map of Greenpoint.

Reviewing photos taken during the walk and preparing stickers.

Off we go out into the open air, again. Collecting material for postcards.

Polish history on board games 

Description: These workshops are a great occasion to develop knowledge about the history of Poland, meet new people, and have fun while playing board games. We will play “Queue”, “Chivalry Game: Battle of Grunwald”, and “Memory ’39”

History of Polish jazz

 

Description: Workshops for anyone interested in history of Polish jazz, listening to good music, meeting some of the best jazz artists and a trip to one of the most famous jazz clubs in the world.

Block Party in Greenpoint

Open, neighborhood event that will consist of concerts, exhibitions, urban games and lots of fun! Will take place in Greenpoint in September 2014. More information will be available soon.
